26 March 2009 Mobile Marketing Winner$ team leaders commit to Thinking Mobile™ Conference Series Mobile Marketing Winner$ team leaders Lauretta Ngakane and Alexander Gregori today committed to hosting the Thinking Mobile™ Conference Series. The conference series is aimed at sharing information about mobile marketing opportunities with NGO's, Parastatals, Business Owners, Marketing-, Communication and PR Professionals, Business Experts and -Coaches, Media Buyers and Product-, Brand- and Event Managers. "We have found that most of the marketing opportunities that mobile technology already offers today are not being utilized because people are not aware of them or don't fully understand them" explains Lauretta Ngakane. "So we thought that, in addition to very specific mobile conferences on payment solutions or technical issues, which are already successfully hosted across the African continent, there should be a conference that focuses on the marketing opportunities that mobile offers." It is interesting to note that, once again, the US is among the leaders in applying mobile technologies to marketing campaigns, although they don't even have the latest technologies available, they don't have the largest consumer base, and mobile has huge competition from the computer based internet. Ngakane: "As far as online marketing opportunities are concerned, so called third world economies are actually better positioned to exploit mobile marketing opportunities because there is a lack of fixed telecom lines versus a mobile phone penetration of often in excess of 100% of the actual population. It would make sense therefore that companies in these markets are at the forefront of utilizing these opportunities. The fact that they don't indicates a lack of knowledge and understanding, and we are trying to address this deficit with the Thinking Mobile™ Conference Series." The first leg of the series is planned for Johannesburg, South Africa, but the Mobile Marketing Winner$ team already has its eyes on other African countries. "It obviously makes sense to have a conference in South Africa, given the sheer size of its economy in relation to other African markets, but we are also looking at hosting similar conferences in countries like Botswana, Kenya and Nigeria." |
